Reiki is
a very gentle, non-invasive form of "energy work". The development of Reiki is attributed to Mikai Usui, a Japanese
Buddhist (1865-1926). Reiki is based on the concept that there is a
Universal Life Force Energy that can be encouraged to flow.
The word "Reiki" is made of two Japanese words: "Rei" means
"God's Wisdom" and "Ki" is "life force energy". |

A Reiki
treatment
conducted in person involves a fully clothed client lying down on a
comfortable treatment table with the practitioner, or Master,
transferring Reiki energy to the client through a series of hand
positions corresponding to the body's chakras. The
practitioner's hands are either gently resting on the client
(non-intrusively), or held a few inches above. Sessions are 30
to 90 minutes in length. |

Reiki is
the
higher self of the receiver drawing in and guiding
the life force energy to where it is most needed. A Reiki
practitioner is simply a conduit for the energy, so the benefits of
treatments will vary from recipient to recipient.
As
energy knows no time or space, a treatment can be "sent" over
distances when the recipient cannot be physically present. |
